1. What is a synonym ?

Answer A synonym is a word or phrase which has the same or nearly the same meaning as another word or phrase in the same language.

2. What is an antonym ?

Answer An antonym is a word meaning having opposite meaning or expression to another word.

3. Do you know of any two words with the same or nearly the same meaning ?

Answer Yes, those are ‘bad’ and ‘evil’.

4. Do you know of any two words with the same or nearly the same meaning ? What about 'boring' and 'dull' ?

Answer The pair is synonymous.

5. Do you know a word that means just the opposite of another word ?

Answer Yes, good and bad. This type of word is antonymous.

6. What about 'obey' and 'disobey' ?

Answer This pair is antonymous.
