The Lion is the king of the forest. One hot afternoon the lion was sleeping in the shade of a tree. A little mouse who lived in a hole of the tree came out to play. Playfully he ran all over the body of the lion. The lion felt disturbed in his sleep. Suddenly he woke up and caught the mouse. He roared angrily. The poor mouse was frightened. He squeaked in a feeble voice, "Please, oh! kind King of the Jungle, I have made a mistake. Please forgive me. Have mercy on me and let me go. I will repay your kindness one day."
The words of the tiny mouse amused the lion. He said, "You have funny ideas, little thing. How can a tiny creature like you help the mighty King of the Jungle?” However, he took pity on the mouse and let him go.
Some days later, the mouse heard the lion roaring in pain. He ran out of his hole and found the lion in trouble.
The lion was caught in a hunter's net. He tried hard to set himself free, but he did not succeed. The mouse ran to him and said, "Don't worry, great King. I will set you free in no time." And he began to cut the cords of the net with his sharp little teeth.
Soon the lion was free. He understood that little animal should not be neglected. He thanked the little mouse in a humble voice and went on his way.
