Types of Interjections
As much as there are feelings and emotions, as much as there are interjections in languages. An interjection is a part of speech that expresses a strong feeling of joy, sorrow, surprise or disgust. (যে সকল শব্দ দ্বারা আনন্দ, দুঃখ, বিস্ময়, ইত্যাদি বুঝায় তাদেরকে Interjection বলে |) Here are the basic kinds of interjections:
1. Interjections for Greeting
These interjections are used to indicate emotion of warmth towards the other person when they meet. (কারো প্রতি উষ্ণ আবেগ বা ভালবাসা বুঝাতে এই ধরণের interjection ব্যবহৃত হয়।)
These include: Hello! , Hey! , Hi! etc.
Examples of Interjections for Greeting
Hey! Good to see you today.
Hello! I am Jane.
2. Interjections for Joy
These interjections are used to indicate immediate emotion of happiness on a sudden happy event that occurred. (আকস্মিক আনন্দের অনুভূতি প্রকাশ করতে এই ধরণের interjection ব্যবহৃত হয়।)
These include: Hurrah! , Hurray! , Wow! Etc
Examples of Injections for Joy
Hurray! My team won the game.
Wow! I passed the exam.
3. Interjections for Approval
These interjections are used by the speaker when he expresses a strong sense of approval and agreement on something that happened. (মতৈক্য প্রকাশ করতে এই জাতীয় interjection ব্যবহৃত হয়।)
These include: Bravo! , Brilliant! , Well done!
Examples of Injections for Approval:
Well done! You got the job.
Bravo! He made the goal.
4. Interjections for Surprise
These interjections are used by the speaker when he expresses a strong sense of surprise on something that happened. (আকস্মিক বিস্ময় প্রকাশ করতে এই জাতীয় interjection ব্যবহৃত হয়।)
These include: Ha! , Hey! , What! , Oh! , Ah! , Eh! Etc
Examples of Injections for Surprise:
What! His mother died!
Ah! I got promoted.
5. Interjections for Grief/Pain
These interjections are used by the speaker when he expresses a strong emotion of grief on something unfortunate that happened. (গভীরভাবে দুঃখ প্রকাশ করতে এই জাতীয় interjection ব্যবহৃত হয়।)
These include: Alas! , Ah! , Oh! , Ouch! Etc
Examples of Injections for Grief/Pain
Alas! He is dead.
Ouch! I hurt my foot.
