Moazzem Hossain who is a freedom fighter is a resident of Mohammadpur. He was only 22 years old when liberation war took place in 1971. He was a student of Rajshahi University when the war broke out. He joined in the war in sector 7 in Rajshahi district. He went to India and received his training almost in 2 weeks. After the training, he joined the Mukti Bahini during the month of May of 1971. He has taken part in several fights against the Pakistani troops. When he describes the experience of the war, he becomes extremely emotional. He shares how Pakistani troops used to kill the newborn infants brutally in front of their mothers. Moazzem Hoassain himself has seen people to be dragged for killing and women to be abducted for raping by Pakistani army. Many a times, he had to take shelters in strangers home so that he can escape from death and fight till his death for the country. He still has a scar of bullet in his right leg. He joined the war for the sake of his country’s independence. His patriotism influenced him to take the risk of sacrificing his own life in need of motherland’s freedom. He is currently an English tutor and earning his livelihood to run his family. He still has to work really hard. However, he does not have any regrets and also he is proud of himself as he could contribute to his country’s independence. We are also very grateful to the freedom fighters like Moazzem Hossain who dared to sacrifice their everything for our Bangladesh.
