1. Why did some people have little or no patience when the ferry boat was in danger of sinking?

Answer The people had little or no patience when the ferry boat because they were in hurry. Moreover, people wanted to reach home early because it was a dark and stormy evening.

Answer The boatman had said, ‘No more, please wait”. The boat became overcrowded because everyone was impatient and got into the boat. The boatman sensed it and warned the passengers about it.

3. Answer the questions below:

a. If we have too many buyers of fish in the market, what is likely to happen?
b. If we have too many passengers at a bus or train station, what may happen?
c. If we have too many people in a village/ town/ city, what will happen?

Answer a. If there are too many buyers in the market, a crowd is very likely.

D. Why do you think the boat sank in the middle of the river? What other problems do you face due to excess population? Discuss some of them.

I think the boat sank because it was overloaded. People’s lack of patience is also responsible for this. We face different other problems due to excess population. There is crisis of food and land. The cities face horrible traffic jam. There is lack of open spaces. Our environment and nature also suffer from excess population.
