In the first picture you see Hason Raja. He was one of the prominent mystical song writer and singer of Bangladesh. He was very rich. He was Born in 1854 in Sylhet. He wrote a book named 1906 with 206 songs in it. These songs are very much popular all over Bangladesh.

The second picture is of shall Abdul Karim Boyati. He was a Baul musician. Who was born on 15 February, 1916 in Sunamgonj. He was very poor. His songs are the expression of his poverty and distress. He composed over 1500 songs in six books. He received the Drouhee Kotha Shahityik Abdur Rouf Choudhury Award in 2006. He died on 12 September, 2003 in Sylhet.

Lalon Fokir or Lalon Shah Fokir was at once a saint, mystic poet, song writer and thinker. He is said to be born in October, 1772 in Shoilkupa, Jhinaidah. His early life is still a mystery. Nobody knows if he was a Muslim or a Hindu. Some claim that Lalon was born of a Hindu kayastha family. During a pilgrimage to Morshidabad, he contracted small pox and was abandoned by his companions by the river of Ganges in a very serious condition. He was then picked up by a Muslim family where he was nursed back to life and raised. He never revealed his true identity since he did not want to belong to any particular religion. The division between the Muslims and Hindus during his time scared him as it often led to violence. In his songs, he always mocked this religious division. He was also concerned about the division among casts and genders. He influenced many other thinkers including Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam. He founded the institution known as Lalon’s Akhra in Cheuriya, Kushtia. He died on 17th October 1890.
