A hospital window
Introduction
A. Read the following story about a hospital window.
It isn't everyday that I go to the hospital but there are times when I want to. One day we received a call from our son who proudly announced that a new baby girl had been born into the world. We soon reached the hospital with our little grandson. After we arrived at the hospital, we waited in the lobby for our son to meet us so he could take his little son to see his new sister. In a short time, we received a call on our cell asking us to come up to their room. Of course, with a bounce in our step, we arrived to meet our new granddaughter. How cute she was, all wrapped in her little blanket being cuddled and asleep in her mother's arms!
I had time to relax as my wife was holding our granddaughter. I turned to look out of the hospital window at the blazing sun and pretty blue sky marveling at such a glorious day. I was very excited to be close to the new baby. As I stared out of the window, for some reason an unhappy inciden was brought forward in my mind. I recalled the time I was staring out the window of a hospital room where my mother laid quietly asleep, or more like unconscious from drugs, waiting for a surgery. I was very much painstaken thinking about my mother, but at the same time when I thought about the birth of my granddaughter, I was feeling happy. Today, I realize that happiness and sadness are parts of life which go side by side.
