B. Read the conversation about a fixed-price shop and answer the following questions.
Mrs. Rehana: Hello, students. Today we’re going to learn about a new kind of shop. It is called a fixed-price shop.
Student 1:A fixed price shop? What kind of a shop is that?
Mrs. Rehana:Can anybody guess from the name?
Student:I think it is a shop where the price of things is fixed.
Mrs. Rehana:Very good! You’re right. It is a shop where the price is already decided and tagged on the items. There are price tags on every item. You cannot bargain with the shop-keeper. You choose an item, see the price-tag and pay the bill at the cash-counter.
Student 1:That is very interesting!
Mrs. Rehana:Yes, it is. And it is very convenient too, because it saves your time as you don’t have to bargain.
Student 3:But, Teacher, who fixes the price?
Mrs. Rehana:Well, most of the times the merchant or the government sets the price level. They do it to control the price in the market so that individual shopkeepers cannot claim a higher price from the customers. A fixed-price shop is good because all the buyers buy a thing from the shop at the same price.
