Remedies: modern and traditional
Others
B. Read the following conversation and see how Sojib and Sojol are giving advice to Rajib about modern and traditional remedies in cough and cold.
Sobuj: Hi, Rajib. How are you?
Rajib: Not good. Have got a bad cold with cough.
Sojol: You should take some medicine. Have you taken any?
Rajib: Yes, I did. I took some cough syrup. But I’m feeling sleepy now because of it.
Sobuj: You can take basil leaf juice and honey mixed in some hot water. It soothes the itch in the throat. It does not have any side effects.
Sojol: You might also try lemon and honey tea.
Sobuj: Ginger tea is also good in cold and cough. You may try that too.
Sojol: Or, you could try hot milk with honey even.
Note: In the above conversation, look at the auxiliaries in bold letters. While giving advice or making suggestions to somebody, we use auxiliaries like should, can, may, might and could.

Rini: Can you suggest a doctor?
Mini: You might go to the doctor who stays across the road, or you may go to the medical centre next to your house.
Rini: Could you, please, write the address of the doctor?
Mini: Sure.
Rini: Thank you.
